Arawak Walton's Family Fun Day - A Big Success
Arawak Walton held its second residents’ consultation day and
family fun day at Medlock Primary School on 27th July – organised
by our Service Improvement Group (view photos).
A big thank you to everyone who took the time to attend – we had
over 100 guests who enjoyed the events we put on. These included home-made
cakes, a kick-boxing demonstration (with an opportunity to join in),
presentations on shared ownership schemes and help for new businesses.
The children enjoyed a bouncy castle and colouring competition with
prizes, and we also had prize draws throughout the day for the adults!
A Caribbean lunch was served while the Steel band played and we were able to make the most of a lovely sunny day. In the afternoon, many guests took to the floor for line-dancing and a great time was had by all.
The
displays on show included the housing officers’ patches, information
about our charity fund-raising events, and a questionnaire on our customer
service charter. Many thanks to all these who completed a questionnaire
on the day – your views are very important to us and will be used
to improve our services!
Once again, many thanks to all our visitors on the day – we look
forward to seeing you again at next year’s fun day!
Improving choices postal survey
We recently carried out a postal survey in June to find out our tenants opinions on how we could improve our services. We gathered together the results in July and these are our findings:
We asked if you knew about the various ways to make your views know to us. The majority of tenants were aware of how to do this and for those who do not they are listed below.
Postal Surveys * Resident Focus Groups * Resident Consultation day
* Housing Officers Scheme visits * Repair satisfaction slips * E - Mail
group for reading publications * Resident satisfaction Questionnaire
For further details of any of these services contact Ceri Smith
We asked you how you would prefer to contact us, you responded as follows: By telephone 79% * Visiting the office 16% * Writing 8% * E-Mail * Housing Officer visiting you 17%. We asked if there were any other ways you would like to make contact. Your answers are as follows:

Bignor Street is finally ours!

Arawak Walton finally took ownership of Bignor Street, Cheetham Hill after the scheme was handed over this month. There was relief as the almost six month delay came to an end, following difficulties in putting in various utilities. At a total cost of £830,000 less Social Housing Grant of £508,000, the six unit scheme brings much needed four and five bedroom houses into the area. All thanks must go to Adactus Housing Group for delivering a quality scheme to be proud of.
Amina’s Baby Gift
Amina Latimer, one of our Hulme residents, wrote to us to tell us about her fund-raising efforts. At a fund-raising day at Wythenshawe Park on 22nd July, Amina raised an amazing £216 by offering hand and head massage to visitors to her stall. The money will go to the premature baby unit at Wythenshawe Hospital.
Congratulations to Amina and thanks to all who supported the day.
We welcome contributions from our residents to your newsletter. If you would like to tell us about something you have done, or let us know about community events, please contact us. We will send a £10 gift voucher to the sender of our star letter in each newsletter. You can write to our freepost address or contact us via the website contact page.

Annual Survey approaches
MAKE YOUR VIEWS COUNT AND HELP US GET IT RIGHT FOR YOU!
We have commissioned our third independent and confidential survey of
tenant views on the services we provide. To do this properly we have
employed an experienced company called KWEST who will contact you direct,
initially by post. This means you can make your reply anonymously.
As part of the service KEWST will provide a full report on the results
and recommendations, the report will go direct to our Board of Management.
We will publish the results in future newsletters and our Annual Report
together with an action plan for any changes.
To make this survey meaningful we need you to take part and give us
your views.
You should receive the survey through your door August 2006.
Every completed survey will be entered into a prize draw for one of
five £25.00 vouchers.
Read our Statement of Values.
