Resident Involvement statement

Arawak Walton is committed to ensuring that residents are able to give their views and take part in the decision making process in a way that fits with their lifestyle and commitment. This involvement ensures that Arawak Walton continually develops its services to meet the needs of residents.

Arawak Walton is committed to

  • Providing good quality and easy to understand information on all aspects of our work
  • Listening to tenants views and feeding back to them how we have responded to those views
  • Providing a range of involvement options so that all residents are able to participate at a level which suits them
  • Seeking the views of under- represented groups
  • Providing training, guidance and support to individual tenants and groups to enable them to participate effectively
  • Training staff on resident involvement
  • Constantly seeking to develop new and innovative methods to involve residents
  • Reviewing involvement options that are not effective

Arawak Walton has reviewed its resident involvement policy in April 2005. In conjunction with tenants we have devised a menu of options for resident involvement that we feel reflects the needs of tenants. In 2005/06 we shall be using the following methods to involve and inform residents

  • Postal Surveys
  • Information / Consultation days
  • Tenants' and Residents' Associations
  • Newsletter
  • Working Groups
  • Estate walkabouts
  • Scheme Visits
  • Informal Residents Groups
  • Customer Survey
  • Repair Reply Slips
  • Focus Groups

We have set up a Resident Involvement Review Group made up of residents and staff who will monitor resident involvement and its effectiveness throughout the year. This group will develop our impact assessment when we review this statement in April 2006.
